You Were Never Really Here is a 2017 British-French-American thriller film. The movie follows on the novel by Jonathan Ames and written and directed by Lynne Ramsay . The film cast stars Alessandro Nivola, Joaquin Phoenix, Alex Manette, Ekaterina Samsonov, John Doman and Judith Roberts. This movie is preset to be released in USA on May 27, 2017.


A missing teenage girl. A brutal and tormented enforcer on a rescue mission. Corrupt power and vengeance unleash a storm of violence that may lead to his awakening. Joe is a former soldier and law enforcement officer who now works in the murky area of “private security”, carrying out wet jobs, and much admired for his unhesitating brutality and efficiency in leaving no trace of it.



But then he is given a new commission, he has to recover a teenage girl, Nina the daughter of an ambitious young politician. Nina has apparently been lured into some kind of sex-trafficking ring and his employer wishes Joe merely to rescue her discreetly while giving him carte blanche to mete out whatever retributive violence comes naturally. For his part, Joe sets up a meeting with Votto in an anonymous New York hotel where he is confident he can deliver Nina. But things go horribly wrong.
