Victoria and Abdul is one of the upcoming movie by Hollywood in 2017. It is a British-American biographical movie directed by Stephen Frears and written by Lee Hall.

This movie is based on a story written in the book of same name by Shrabani Basu, and on the real-life relationship between Queen Victoria and her Indian servant Abdul Karim.

This is a story of an extraordinary and unexpected friendship that arises in the last years.  This unexpected happened in the reign of the sovereign Victoria (Judi Dench). Abdul Karim (Ali Fazal), a young Indian secretary, known as 'The Munshi' travels from India to Britain. He travel to participate in the Jubilee of the 50 years of reign and is surprised to discover that the sovereign is interested in him.

Queen Victoria begins to question the restrictions that her position entails, and between them an alliance as unlikely as it is loyal is forged, that the domestic circle and the one closest to the Queen will endeavor to destroy. As her friendship grows, Queen Victoria begins to see a changing world with another perspective and recovers a humanism that she believed was lost.

 

Karim ends up being named Secretary of India, position that exerted during the last 15 years of the monarch's life. A story about how friendship can change a person, a life.
