Let's start with the grandmother's secret boot to remove the ugly spots. (I then share other techniques to remove even more stubborn stains).
The soap, the secret boot anti-stain.
A stain of wine, a blood stain, a chocolate stain, a stain of tomato sauce, or a coffee stain ... So many spots that are likely to appear on your clothes.
The problem :
These stubborn stains often resist the best detergents.
To remove stains on cotton fabric, our grandmothers have the solution. Against stubborn stains, they use soap.
The most effective solution? It is a dry soap.
How to successfully remove stains on your white T-shirt with soap?
Follow these three steps.
I explain how to remove all the stains present on your T-shirts. From the grass stain to the sauce spot to the wine stain, no more of them will resist you.
1. Treat the spot as quickly as possible
You just spotted your T-shirt? Strike at the spot as quickly as possible.
Start by removing the maximum while avoiding spreading. I usually use a knife, but other tools can do the trick.
Once the bulk of the stain is gone, go to step 2.
2. Use Soap.
This is the secret of our grandmothers:
Wet the stained fabric with cold water and rub the soap directly onto the stain. Continue to rub with soap, then rinse with cold water. Repeat the operation if necessary.
Put some elbow grease on it. When rubbing the stain with soap, rub vigorously.
Do this in front of a good series or listen to the radio, the task (and not the "spot") will be less tedious.
3. Wash your T-shirt
Once the stain has disappeared or has actually decreased in intensity, place your white or colored T-shirt in the washing machine:
- Use your usual laundry and your favorite softener;
- Wash at 30°C to preserve the softness of the cotton fabric (your electricity bill will be lighter and also good for the environment);
- Do not dry your T-shirts in the dryer. Do this in the open air.
Anther effective methods for removing stains
Sodium bicarbonate
Baking soda is another magic ingredient to remove stains.
Here's what Romane, fashion blogger for Comme un Camion, advises:
"A T-shirt, all the more if it is of light color, talks. Thus, to avoid traces appearing under the arms, many solutions exist. For example, let your T-shirt soak for 30 minutes in a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar before washing."
There are excellent books on grandmother methods for removing stains with baking soda.
