POP AYE | Movie Review 2017

POP AYE is the film from Singapore film industry. The story for the film POP AYE grew entirely from Kirsten's own feelings and life.

She grew up in Singapore, lived in Jeunjo and Bangkok and then moved to New York. Kirsten, however, always felt a kind of an outsider and found nowhere a real home. This feeling, which in its many other people experienced, Kirsten wants to convey with Pop Aye.

Kirsten Tans works have been screened at over 40 film festivals and received over 10 international awards including the award for "Best Director" at the Singapore International Film Festival and a "National Award" at the Kodak Film Awards for outstanding cinematography. Her latest film POP AYE will be released on July 5 in our venues.

During their journey towards their hometown learn Aye Pop and Thana know better. Together they end up in different funny but also poignant situations. Situations that are the result of chance meetings and events occurring at one and the same time. This is a second message which wants to transmit Kirsten Tan with the film Pop Aye. The fact that life is continuously determined by space and time. And events, depending on space and time, shapes our lives and our personality.

Incredibly beautiful images of several Thailand framing the story of Thana and Pop Aye, the Bangkok metropolis to the green and peaceful countryside. In addition, these images show the beautiful love that can exist between humans and animals. A delight for the eyes! Besides, chapeau for the entire film crew. Making a film will bake have cost energy and perseverance with an elephant in the lead. Admit it, ingest an elephant in a house or step up to a truck? Easy will not be!
